St George Illawarra are set to meet with James Graham’s manager to table a formal offer for Canterbury captain that would see him join the Dragons in 2018.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that no offer has been made yet but that is soon to change with club finalising a two or three-year deal.

The club met with Graham's manager David Riolo last week and are keen to add Graham to their side next season to make up for the loss of forward Russell Packer.

The Bulldogs are under pressure to cut down their salary for 2018 with big money signings Kieran Foran and Aaron Woods reportedly pushing them over the cap.

The NRL has apparently threatened to not register the duo unless the club can become salary cap compliant and the departure of Graham would help this cause.

Graham has spoken about the idea of moving on from the Bulldogs, stating that in an ideal world he would be playing for Canterbury next season but isn't naive enough to think that is the only option open to him.
