The Dragons have moved to secure the immediate future of promising forward Braith Plecas, with the Jersey Flegg captain extended through to the end of the 2027 season.
Plecas has enjoyed a strong campaign in the Dragons' junior system, captaining the club's Jersey Flegg side from the lock position.
The Dragons finished the regular season on top of the Jersey Flegg ladder and are now preparing to face the Bulldogs in Week 3 of the finals, with Plecas continuing to play a key role in their premiership campaign.
The promising forward also made his NSW Cup debut this season, featuring against the North Sydney Bears in Round 21.
His performance was enough to earn him a recall for the following week's clash against the Sydney Roosters, where he made an impact despite playing just 20 minutes.
Plecas finished the Dragons' 24-20 victory against the tri-colours with a try assist, line break, tackle break and 11 tackles, providing an early glimpse of his potential at the next level.
The 2027 extension comes after Plecas joined Athletes Future management in May, with his new representatives now helping secure his immediate future with the Red V just months later.
With his development continuing through the club's pathways system and further NSW Cup opportunities now under his belt, the Dragons will be hopeful Plecas can continue his progression towards a long-term role in the NRL squad.
