The NRL will stage a double header at the new Perth Stadium in Round 1 of the 2018 NRL Telstra Premiership season.

South Sydney and the Bulldogs will host matches as part of an historic double header at the soon-to-be-completed stadium, on Saturday March 10, 2018.

Due to the significance of the event, the NRL has released tickets for the double header in advance of the draw release. It will be the first time the NRL has released tickets for an event prior to the official NRL Telstra Premiership draw announcement, giving out-of-state fans plenty of opportunity to plan and book their travel.

It also means a rugby league event will be the first sporting contest at Perth Stadium to go on sale.

"This will be a spectacular way to help kick off the new NRL season – a Saturday double header at the brand new stadium in Perth," NRL Chief Executive Todd Greenberg said.

"Fans will get two Premiership matches in a blockbuster event at incredible value.

"I'd like to thank both the Government of Western Australia and Tourism WA for their strong desire to showcase rugby league on this stage, as well as the two clubs for embracing the concept."

The opponents for the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs will be confirmed later in the year through the general release of the 2018 Telstra Premiership schedule.

The NRL will be the first rectangular sport to compete at the state-of-the-art new stadium, while the double header is the first confirmed sporting event at the venue.

Special early bird prices will be available for a limited time.

Tickets will be available from $20 for adults as well as $50 for families. Members will be able to purchase tickets from $15 (adults) and $45 (families). All tickets will also include integrated public transport.

Tickets will go on sale to all NRL Club Ticketed Members on Tuesday at 10am AEST and to the general public at 10am AEST Wednesday, August 30.

Fans will be able to see first-hand the reconfiguration ability of the new stadium. Spectators will also get the chance to experience Perth Stadium's fan-first approach to design and technology.
