Panthers centre Dean Whare has been sidelined after scans revealed he suffered a broken jaw against the Rabbitohs.

The fracture is non-displaced and does not require surgery however it could keep Whare out for up to four weeks.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury in a head clash during the second half of Sunday's defeat at ANZ Stadium.

Whare's replacement at centre will be confirmed later this afternoon when Panthers coach Anthony Griffin names his side to face Manly at Pepper Stadium.
