The Titans have retained the services of centre Dale Copley after he signed a two-year extension with the club.

The 26-year old has agreed to terms on the new deal which will tie him to the Gold Coast until at least the 2020 NRL season, according to The Courier Mail.

The club is hoping to announce the re-signing prior to Sundays game against the Wests Tigers, which would be Copley's 31st appearance for the Titans.

Since crossing over from the Roosters at the end of the 2016 NRL season, the high-flyer has impressed at the Gold Coast, earning an invitation to Queensland's extended squad for Origin game one.

Copley started his career in Brisbane, and has been hampered by a series of injuries and concussions throughout. But things are finally looking up for the 116-gamer, who has scored five tries from 11 games this season and becomes a 10-year servant of the NRL in 2019.

“Dale has been very good for us in his time here,” Titans coach Garth Brennan’ told The Courier Mail.

“He can be a real strike player, and with Tyrone Peachey coming to the club next season, that gives us a pretty handy centre pairing.”

Exhibiting unrelenting tryscoring potential during his under-20s days for Brisbane, Brennan has always recognised Copley's capacity become an elite NRL talent.

“When I was coaching in the under-20s, I kept a black book of opposition players who impressed me and Dale Copley was a name I wrote down early on,” Brennan recalled last month.

“The one issue for Dale is that he has had injuries throughout his career, but there is no questioning his talent.

“He did a great job on James Roberts when we beat the Broncos earlier this season, so he has something to offer us.”
