Newcastle halfback Mitchell Pearce has been named in the NSW Origin squad, and usually for players that checks a bonus in their contract that rewards them for a representative call-up.
For Pearce, however, his only bonus relates to his work at the Knights, and it's one hefty bonus that could see him join the game's highest-paid players.
According to Sydney Morning Herald's Danny Weidler, Pearce will receive a significant bonus if the Knights make the top eight, and will earn an even bigger one if they finish inside the top four.
While Weidler couldn't confirm the exact amount, he believes it to be over $100,000.
It's unusual for players to have such big bonuses entirely team-oriented, which could show just how devoted Pearce is to the cause in Newcastle.
At the end of Round 16, the Knights will be one game outside of the top four with an 8-7 record, while also sitting one win inside the top eight.
When I read the heading I automatically presumed like many others he was being baited back to the roosters.
Thatโs because youโre obsessed with the roosters Stephanie, literally all your comments are about the reigning premiers. Donโt kill yourself when the roosters eliminate the rabbits again this year.
Time to look at the ladder again little fella.
