Connelly Lemuelu has joined the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys on a two-year deal.

The 21-year-old back will look to bring the Cowboys back up the ladder as he will base himself in Townsville for at least the next two seasons.

Lemuelu was a part of the West Tigers program and then played 21 games for the Bulldogs' Canterbury Cup side.

During his 21 games he scored eight tries with an average of two tackle breaks and offloads with 127 running meters per game.

Cowboys recruitment manager, Clint Zammit describes Lemuelu as a "big body, a really good athlete and he covers a lot of positions."

Lemuelu kicked a famous field goal in which won his team the 2016 GIO Schoolboys Cup state final in Auckland.

"Connelly is going to add significant depth to our outside backs" Zammit told the club website.

"On top of all that, he's a fantastic kid, which was one thing that really stood out when we met with him."
