The Brumbies have signed emerging Manly prospect Tom Wright on a two-year deal.

The NSW native was a highly renowned rugby product coming out of high school with both codes interested in his services.

Brumbies head coach Dan McKellar was excited by the attributes the 21-year old will bring to his team.

“Tom has genuine X factor in attack with ability to create something out of nothing,”  McKellar told brumbies.com.au.

“He also possesses very good skill. We have said for some time now that to play our style of rugby we need to recruit players with good skill and Tom has that.”

Wright possesses lightning pace, reflected by the fact that he nearly earned selection in the Aussie Sevens Rio Olympic team in 2016, turning down a contract to pursue opportunities at the Sea Eagles.

Add to that his impressive step and ability to get to the try-line and Wright has all the skills to be successful in the fifteen-a-side game.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Tom to the Plus500 Brumbies,” CEO Michael Thomson said.

“Tom is a very exciting prospect and is exactly the kind of young, enthusiastic talent, that thrives in the Brumbies environment. His pace and electrifying running are sure to get fans on the edge of their seats. We are looking forward to welcoming Tom to Canberra and the Brumbies.”

  1. Manly are idiots, the guys a gun and played well in the very limited game time he did get. Better than Wright and probably better than Kelly too, Kelly has good attack, but his def is well below par. Guy plays halves centre wing and Fullback too!!! FFS

    • Nope he didn’t show he was a gun.
He made that 1 good run and play and scored, apart from that he was a passenger..
No kicking game can’t tackle at all and gets caught out very badly in defence of reading plays..
I’ve been saying for a long time now he won’t make it, and that he is a union player.
Good luck to him for sure.
Kelly is way better in attack and defence had improved out of sight this year even with the swapping and changing of his wing partner..

  2. Showed potential but definitely not the gun some people thought he might be. Suli and Kelly are our centres. And with Hodgo, Crocker, Elgey, Cherry we have plenty of depth in the halves. Two decent back ups.

I reckon he belongs in Union and hope he does well. Look forward to watching go around. Could be a classy ball playing inside centre.

  3. Walker injured and no 5/8th meant walker in halves just to have both suli and Kelly on the field was best option his year, but next year elgey in halves means walker goes back to centre and Kelly other with maybe taufau and suli on wings

  4. Taufua is too slow now. Hate to say it but we need wingers who can score tries.

I’d give Suli a crack on the wing but would like to see a new speedy youngster on the other. Brendon Elliott is not the answer.

    • Brendan Elliot??? Have manly signed him??
Taufau prob is over it now, I’ve always just been a huge fan of his and hate to see him go.
Manly should of went for Gideon mosby from cows, or if like to see he’d anderson from reserve grade her a run, very quick…

  5. Anderson is gone as well apparently.

Manly looking at Elliott. But nothing done yet. Edrick Lee would have been good as well.

    • Edrick lee would be good he is fast and can catch a high ball. And next year suli will goto wing or at least he should

  6. The only people on here who thought this guy was a gun are the same tools who are now saying he isn’t all because he jumped from the sinking ship. Lol

    • Idiot… go through every manly thread and see I have said the whole time he isnt 1st grade material…
Not all of us like yourself sit around on computers, some know what they are talking sbout
