Brisbane have been forced into making a change ahead of their clash with the Warriors in New Zealand on Saturday.

Halfback Kodi Nikorima was ruled out of the clash on Friday after training, due to a corked thigh.

Nikorima has been carrying the injury for the past two weeks, and it seems to have finally caught up with him.

Jack Bird will now move into the halves for the first time.

“Kodi is out, we will give him a week to rest his leg,” Broncos coach Wayne Bennett confirmed to media at training.

“This is a good opportunity for Jack. He is getting better each week, but I hope he grabs this chance and shows us what he has got.”

With Bird out of the backline, Tom Opacic will move into the centres, and Sam Tagataese comes onto the bench.

The injury blow is the last things the Broncos need this season, after Matt Gillett was ruled out for at least eight weeks of action on Thursday night because of a fractured neck.

The 2-3 Broncos will be desperate for a win against the undefeated Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
