Broncos utility Jack Bird will continue with his rehabilitation after getting results of the most recent scans on his sternum injury.

Bird went into surgery on his sternum six weeks ago to repair an abnormality that was resulting in lingering pains in his chest, an issue that had troubled him since the start of the season.

While his injuries are healing, the scans have revealed that he is not quite ready for a return to full contact as yet.

“We always knew this was going to be a slow process with the unusual surgery Jack had,” Broncos’ high performance manager Jeremy Hickmans told the club website.

Jack is not ready for full contact at this stage so he will continue training without that.

“His injury will be scanned again in a couple of weeks’ time as another check on his progress.”
