The Brisbane Broncos have added Jon Clarke to the club's coaching staff for 2027 in a head of performance role, to swiftly turn the club back into a powerhouse side on the paddock.
Clarke has been at the Manly Sea Eagles for the past three seasons, working with Anthony Seibold during his reign on the Northern Beaches.
Broncos coach Michael Maguire has made a move to get Clarke up to Brisbane to help reinvigorate his squad, who had a troubled title defence season in 2026.
He holds experience across both rugby league and rugby union at international level, including performance roles at Super League's Warrington Wolves, English Rugby and the British & Irish Lions.
Clarke has played over 350 Super League matches and will bring a hard edge to the playing group, known for intensity in fitness.
Broncos executive general manager Troy Thomson is excited about Clarke's impact on the club.
“JC has worked at the highest levels of rugby league and rugby union, and brings a depth of experience that will be valuable to our entire football program,” Thomson said in a Broncos statement.
"He's respected for the standards he sets and the relationships he builds with players and staff. We're excited to welcome him to the Broncos."
Clarke will move into Dave Pallard's role at the Broncos, with Pallard being elevated to general manager and Thomson promoted to executive GM.
Manly coach Kieran Foran will welcome David Penna back to the club, while also keeping Lachlan Croker and Jim Dymock on his coaching staff for 2027.
Clarke will being to prepare an intense preseason training program over the summer in Red Hill to get the Broncos fit and firing for next season.
