Queensland coach Kevin Walters is currently favourite to take over from Garth Brennan at the Titans, and if that move does eventuate, Wayne Bennett could be in line for a return to the Maroons' top gig.

Given the Titans are in the middle of a football review, it looks as though Brennan's days are numbered. Although Walters has long been the favourite for the role, a new candidate has emerged, with Cronulla assistant Jim Dymock on the shortlist.

Dymock missed out on top jobs at Cronulla and Canterbury recently, and is touted as a coach-in-waiting.

However, if it's Walters who does in fact take over at the Gold Coast, the Maroons may not have to search too long for a new coach.

โ€œIf they feel there is a part for me to play and I feel I can do that, I will do that. Itโ€™s as simple as that for me,โ€ Bennett told the Herald.

โ€œItโ€™s about Queensland. Iโ€™ve done so much coaching up there, nothing has changed for me.

โ€œAt this point there has been no approach, so thatโ€™s the first part I want to make clear.

โ€œI have always been committed to rugby league in Queensland since I got into coaching. Besides coaching Origin, Iโ€™ve done a lot of stuff in regards to Queensland Academy of Sport programs, a lot of stuff prior to that, Iโ€™ve coached Queensland under-18s.

โ€œI coached first grade for eight years before the national competition came along. I gave up my job in Canberra to come home and coach the Broncos.

โ€œMy commitment has been total to Queensland. Thatโ€™s important to me.

โ€œTo cut a long story short, the bottom line is if they thought I was the best and Kevin moved on and wasnโ€™t able to do it, Iโ€™d certainly look at it.โ€
