Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary has spoken to the club's board about offering former hooker Robbie Farah a deal for the rest of the season, with the board approving the idea on Monday night.

NRL.com believes the Tigers will offer Farah a deal for the remainder of the 2018 campaign, with only a release from South Sydney standing in the way of Farah's return to his former club.

Farah played 247 games for the Tigers between 2003-2016, and has played 26 first-grade matches for Souths over the past two seasons, although only two have come this year.

Damien Cook has been in hot form for the Rabbits so far in 2018, and was rewarded with a debut Origin jersey during Game One.

NRL.com understand the deal can be done within 48 hours if Souths agree to let Farah go.
