Game 2 in the State of Origin series is arguably the most important match of the series for the NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons.
It's the game where everything is on the line equally for both states: seal the series, or hit back and force everything into a sudden-death Game 3 decider.
Momentum shifts, pressure peaks, and the biggest moments arrive.
Over the years, Game 2 has delivered chaos, comebacks and dynasty-breaking performances.
These are the five that stand above the rest.
4. Game 2, 2013 – You get a sin bin, you get a sin bin, we all get sin binned!
By 2013, Origin intensity was already extreme, but Game 2 in Brisbane pushed it into full chaos.
Paul Gallen arrived as public enemy No.1 following his fight with Nate Myles in the Game 1 win. The atmosphere was tense before kickoff, with officials warning players about the new “one punch and you're off” rule.
Queensland dominated early and had control of the scoreboard, but the game quickly turned into chaos.
A sequence involving Billy Slater being placed on report sparked agitation.
Brent Tate pushed at Gallen after a tackle on Johnathan Thurston, and NSW forward Trent Merrin took exception, clocking Tate with a right jab that triggered an all-in.
What followed was a monstrous four-man sin bin, with referee Shayne Hayne sending Merrin and Greg Bird to the bin, alongside Brent Tate and Justin Hodges. For 10 minutes, it was 11 v 11; to this day, the four-man sin bin holds the record for the most in an Origin game.
During that period, Queensland immediately capitalised. Greg Inglis broke through to score and extend the lead, taking control of the match.
From there, Queensland ran away with it 26–6, the score ultimately overshadowed by the iconic melee.
