The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the extension of rising star Tallis Duncan for an extra three seasons, taking his time at Heffron Park past the turn of the decade until the end of the 2030 season.
Duncan had rapidly shown his quality in first grade for the Rabbitohs, showcasing elite versatility in both the second row and centre positions, despite breaking through as a middle forward.
The 24-year-old is highly touted as a future NSW Blues representative with his toughness, skill and IQ on the paddock.
Duncan has made 73 appearances in the NRL, with his South Sydney debut coming in Round 13 of 2023.
He has already earned representative honours early in his career with two call-ups for the Indigenous All Stars, two Prime Minister's XIII, and one Test for Malta in 2022.
Tallis said he is thrilled to be extending long-term with the Bunnies and is excited at what the future brings in red and green.
“I'm really happy to be staying at Souths. I love this club, and this is my home,” Duncan said in a Rabbitohs statement.
“I've grown a lot since I first came to the Club and I'm grateful for everything Souths has given me. I'm looking forward to continuing that journey here.
“Putting on the Souths jersey means a lot to me, and I'm excited for what's ahead.”
Duncan has scored 24 tries since his debut, a fast start to his career as a versatile forward in the NRL.
He has earned the ultimate respect from his NRL rivals, who voted him in to secure a place in the RLPA Dream Team of the Year in the second row position for 2026.
Rabbitohs Head of Recruitment Mark Ellison praised Duncan's work ethic and said he has a massive future in the game.
“Tallis is one of the most exciting prospects in the NRL, and we're delighted that he sees his future here at this Club,” Mr Ellison said.
“He has shown that he has the desire, the willingness to work hard and the character to not only play at the NRL level, but to excel at that level.
“He's had a taste of representative football, but we can all see that he will play at the higher levels of the game.
“He comes from a wonderful family, and we're excited to see the heights Tallis can reach in his career.”
Success through the pathways showed Duncan was destined for a bright NRL career, earning the Rabbitohs NSW Cup Player of the Year Award in 2023, and both Jersey Flegg Cup Player of the Year Award and Players' Player Award in 2022.
The club secured him before he was free to negotiate with NRL rivals in five weeks, no doubt gauging plenty of interest if he chose to wait and see what was out there.
The Rabbitohs will be in preseason training in November after being bounced out of the finals in Week 1 by the Knights.
