York Knights have officially confirmed the signing of experienced NRL prop Blake Lawrie from the St George Illawarra Dragons.
With 171 NRL appearances, Lawrie will arrive at York on a two-year deal with a third-year option, first reported by ESPN.
Lawrie, who represented the Junior Kangaroos while progressing through the Dragons' pathways, made his debut in 2017.
During the 2023 season, Lawrie averaged 135 running metres per game while tackling at 94 per cent efficiency.
Lawrie's form led to him being voted the club's Supporters' Player of the Year.
Lawrie's expiring contract was not expected to be extended with the Red V after a massive roster cleanout.
Several Dragons players will head to the Super League with Lawrie, including Damien Cook, Tyrell Sloan, Luciano Leilua, Mathew Feagai, and Emre Guler, who was released in August to join Wakefield Trinity.
The departing prop has struggled to be named in the NRL side this season.
He will join another NRL forward at the York Knights, as the Super League club recently confirmed the signing of Cameron McInnes from the Cronulla Sharks.
Lawrie, in the York Knights' statement, spoke about his excitement to head over to England.
"I'm really excited to be joining York in 2027," he said.
"It's a club with plenty of ambition and I'm looking forward to being part of what they're building.
