Slater returns but Melbourne may lose Munster to injury

Billy Slater has made a successful return for the Melbourne Storm but the news isn’t so good for Cameron Munster with the utility suffering a suspected broken jaw.

Munster was forced from the field in the 60th minute after a nasty head clash with Broncos winger Corey Oates.

If Munster does have a broken jaw, the return of Billy Slater could not have been better timed.

Munster had been tipped to play five-eighth for the Storm in 2017 but had spent the opening rounds at fullback covering for Slater with new recruit Ryley Jacks playing the five-eighth role.

A stint on the sidelines for Munster would see Jacks stay in the No. 6 jersey for now.

  1. Slater very rusty tonight with obvious nerves. Some flashes of his old self but it is going to take time. Nice to see the old man back and rusty or not, he is still way better than many I could mention.

    • Agreed. Great to see him back, and he still looked dangerous, albeit a bit rusty.

I hope he can stay fit for the season, and go out on top.
