Canberra Raiders halfback Aidan Sezer has a battle on his hands to stay in the club's senior squad. Despite his inspired form which has seen the high flying Raiders win two on the trot, his future at the club from the Capital is uncertain.

It appears we have seen this all before, with the Wests Tigers being in a similar position with Josh Reynolds, Luke Brooks and Benji Marshall fitting three quality players into two.

Yet whilst the $800,000 issue isn't quite the same at the Raiders - the new signing of George Williams poses a problem in 2020.

With Origin star Jack Wighton and England No. 7 George Williams both signed on, it means Sezer will battle for a spot in the halves with two of Canberra's star players.

The Raiders also wish to keep Sam Williams on the books which poses the salary cap issue in 2020 for the high flying club.

Sezer appears unfazed by the new signings and has labelled his focus on the run into the finals for the Raiders.

"Next year is a long way away, anything can happen in footy and I'm just trying to perform for the club. I've been here four years now so whatever happens, happens. It's out of my control," Sezer told the AAP.

"The only thing I can control is my performance on the field and my contribution to this club at the moment, so that's all I'm focused on.

"We've got 24 competition points so we're in a pretty good position obviously to move forward and build a foundation for the back end of our year.

"But we just need to keep ticking over and getting wins and put ourselves in the best position possible."

The Raiders sit in the mix for a top-four berth in 2019 and with his career-best form shining through, anything is possible for the former Titan.

  1. He would be great for Manly or the Knights. In order to do it they could swap and give the Raiders a young forward for depth. Manly (Lloyd Perrett) or Knights (Jacob Saifiti)
