The Melbourne Storm have held talks with unwanted Warriors forward Ryan Hoffman about a return to the club in 2018.

Storm football director Frank Ponissi has confirmed the club has met with Hoffman about a potential swan song season.

Hoffman played 248 games for the Melbourne club in two separate stints. and would be a valuable addition to a forward pack that is losing Tohu Harris to the Warriors and Jordan McLean to the Cowboys.

A 300 plus game veteran, Hoffman would be a valuable addition to a forward pack that is losing Tohu Harris to the Warriors and Jordan McLean to the Cowboys.

"Without giving away too much, we've certainly had conversations with Ryan about finishing his career here and that is a possibility," Ponissi told the Herald Sun.

"He's got some other offers at the moment, which he's considering, but we're certainly having a chat.

"It's still very ... early days, he has got a couple of other options that he's considering but it would be great to get him back."

Hoffman travelled to Melbourne last month to help celebrate Storm captain and premiership teammate Cameron Smith’s 350th game.
