The Sydney Roosters will hold on to cross-code rising star Seymour Stowers-Smith for the 2027 season.

The brother of New Zealand Warriors forward Tanner, Stowers-Smith has already spent time this year in the Roosters pathways, playing a few matches in the SG Ball and Jersey Flegg competitions in tri-colours.

It is now being reported by Fox Sports that he will return to Bondi next season as he continues his development in the 13-man game.

The rangy second rower played two matches in SG Ball this year, totalling four tackle breaks, 90 post-contact metres and 195 running metres in both matches.

It means he averaged a tick under 100 metres with the Steeden in hand in both encounters, proving to be a handful for defenders in only 125 minutes of game time.

Stowers-Smith recently captained St Andrew's College to a NZ title in 2026, showing his talent in both code streamlines.

He led the Christchurch-based College to its maiden First XV Championship title after defeating Tauranga Boys' College 34-24 this season, marking them as one of the best school teams in New Zealand.

It adds another layer of rivalry between the league and union codes, with the Roosters poaching a rising talent after having to cough up Angus Crichton, Joseph Manu, Joseph Suaalii and Mark Nawaqanitawase.

With Crichton moving to Rugby Australia next season, Stowers-Smith has the chance to continue his craft in the background for an opportunity to push up the ranks for an NRL debut next year.

Older brother Tanner is also paving his way with the Warriors, and has emerged as an important member of the NRL club's forward rotation off the interchange bench.

Stowers-Smith has had a breakout year in Warriors colours, averaging just under an impressive 120 metres off the bench this year.

He will line up against the Newcastle Knights this weekend as the Warriors push for a spot in the Preliminary Final against the Penrith Panthers.
