The Sydney Roosters have emerged as a contender for unwanted Warriors forward Ryan Hoffman.

The Warriors veteran is off contract at the end of the season and has been told he won't be getting a new deal with the New Zealand club.

The Melbourne Storm have expressed their interest in signing Hoffman, whom he played 248 games for in two separate stints.

According to reports from SMH.com.au though, the Roosters believe they can get value out of Hoffman as a middle forward on limited minutes rather than as an edge back-rower.

Both the Storm and Roosters see Hoffman as an important addition to their future, with the veteran able to add bring a positive influence on the playing group.
