Cronulla are reportedly set to offer star winger Valentine Holmes a four-year contract extension worth $3.2 million, as the Sharks try to keep him from returning home to North Queensland.

According to Phil Rothfield in What’s the Buzz, the Sharks are meeting with Holmes and the Origin star’s management during the upcoming week, in a bid to push forward on the deal.

Early in June, it was reported that Holmes wanted to become a permanent fullback, and the Cowboys were interested in offering him that position, and bringing him back home.

Holmes has admitted the lure of returning home is on his mind, but the Sharks are hoping he signs the four-year extension, which will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2023 season, given he’s already contracted until the end of next season.

  1. Too much money for a winger. Top player, but if he really wants to go, let him go I say. Be interesting to see if he chooses the coin though.

  2. No please sign these types of players don’t come along that often cookem. I want hi signed even for a million a year. He will be playing fullback if we don’t get Barba!

    • Well this is true sharky, but only if his heart is in staying & not just because of the coin. Otherwise that money could be better invested in any potential local junior stars who want a career with the Sharks.

  3. The kids a freak and people say “ohh too much money for a winger”. Let him develop and grow at fullback, don’t limit someones potential and box him into one position.

  4. Not a fullback watching him this year apart from the first game against cowboys he’s been great …… who cares we’re he plays reps on the wing centre or fullback ettinghausen did the same
I point bringing barba back this kids the future leave him learn his role …. if the last month is an indication he’s going to be great
