Cronulla are reportedly set to offer star winger Valentine Holmes a four-year contract extension worth $3.2 million, as the Sharks try to keep him from returning home to North Queensland.

According to Phil Rothfield in What's the Buzz, the Sharks are meeting with Holmes and the Origin star's management during the upcoming week, in a bid to push forward on the deal.

Early in June, it was reported that Holmes wanted to become a permanent fullback, and the Cowboys were interested in offering him that position, and bringing him back home.

Holmes has admitted the lure of returning home is on his mind, but the Sharks are hoping he signs the four-year extension, which will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2023 season, given he's already contracted until the end of next season.
