Out of favour Wests Tigers hooker Josh Reynolds could be shipped off to Cronulla as the Tigers look to create salary-cap space.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Sharks have expressed preliminary internal interest in securing the former NSW's State of Origin star.

Reynolds has two years remaining on his current deal but is currently playing in the Canterbury Cup for Wests Tigers feeder club, Western Suburbs.

The 30-year-old is currently on a contract believed to be in the region of $800,000 a year.

Cronulla is believed to be willing to pay $300,000 of Reynolds' salary, which means the Tigers would have to pay $500,000 to a player not on their books.

  1. “If we sign all the halves, there will be a shortage of players for the other teams! Muahahahahahaha” – Sharks board, probably, 2019.

  2. FrankSpencer – I dont think Flanagan going to the Roosters will determine if they win a premiership soon. It’ll almost certainly happen anyway. They’ll probably win 5 of the next 10 premierships with their special cap sauce.

  3. Is Chris flannery back at the roosters? Nice comeback, he would be bout 40 by now. & Reynolds could be handy backup for Sharks.

  4. Surely not (on many fronts).
From the Tigers perspective if they’re only going to free up $300k I’d hold him, for depth and/or utility.
The Sharks doesn’t work for Reynolds, career wise either, in that he won’t be a starting half.
Parra, NO (I hope not anyway). A couple of years ago that would have been a big NO just because he used to really annoy me (his on field “gee ups”), but I’ve come to respect him, and now even feel a bit sorry for him. That said, paring him up with Moses would end in tears. That just won’t work.
Solution: Sharkies, subsidise Johnson to Parra, Tigers can subsidise Reynolds to the Sharks, as starting 5/8, and happy days.
