The Melbourne Storm are currently investigating an incident with a player who was found on a doorstep of a Richmond home, as first reported by The Herald Sun.

It is understood that the ambulance was called after the player was discovered on Monday morning in the Melbourne suburb.

The player reportedly did not play in Saturday night's preliminary final loss to the Sydney Roosters.

The Storm have since released a statement on the matter, revealing that the player was being treated in hospital for facial cuts.

“Melbourne Storm is aware that one of our NRL contracted players has been treated in hospital this morning for facial cuts and will undergo further medical tests today,” the statement read.

“We can confirm there is no on-going investigation by Victoria Police into the matter.

“The player, who was not part of our preliminary final squad on Saturday night, is expected to be able to return home today.

“He will continue to be supported by Storm medical and player well-being staff.”

  1. Yet this player has been granted anonymity, yet other players, for example Jack De Belin, and Tyrone May, who have been charged, with serious crimes, hasn’t been given that right? Interesting.

  2. So where is the investigation ?

The Police are not involved so that can only be the Storm that is doing the investigation. Reckon this is a storm in a teacup (no pun intended) and no where near a DeBelin or Haynes type problem.

Withholding his name may be for good reason but all it does is fuel the fire. Better to get it out there.

  3. I agree, Rucky, my point is that all names, especially when the players are facing police charges, should remain confidential. There is no way in hell they will be given the presumption of innocence until proven guilty right.

  4. I doubt they thought they could withhold the name, permanently – I think it’s just them not doing the media any favours and quite frankly, do the media deserve that?

  5. Its Harry Grant.

He got P………ed and fell over. Spent the night on a doorstep. Ambulance called when someone spotted him. The media are really plumbing the “dirt diggin” depths of Rugby League aren’t they.

  6. If that’s the worst thing that happens this off season then hallelujah!! Hardly an earth shattering story to be honest. Besides his personal pride who got hurt?? Did he commit a crime?? Cmon people it’s hardly news worthy
