Bulldogs coach Dean Pay faces an uncertain future, according to The Daily Telegraph's Phil Rothfield.

Pay recently signed a 12-month contract extension to tie him to the club until the end of 2020 but could be removed from his position sooner.

And while Canterbury officials have supported Pay, they have refused to say his job is 100 per cent safe.

The Bulldogs weren't expected to do great things this season, however, currently sit on the bottom of the ladder with just three wins.

Axed Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has been linked to the top job at Belmore, a rumour refuted by chair Lynne Anderson.

This is a story that could build momentum throughout the back half of the NRL season, with Pay's job well and truly on the line.

  1. How can the dogs sack him with that roster? Fair dinkum give him a go, I thought this new board were switched on , they signed him for another year for pete’s sake, panic decisions , perhaps they should sign Fittler he’s a panic merchant.

  2. Sack him already. Bring in a teal first grade coach is Shane Flanagan and bring in some players in positions you actually need. A new hooker, a new young strong prop and maybe a centre and maybe a half. Cull out the not up to scratch players such as Fa Brown, Marcelo Montoya, Adam Elliot, John Olive, Micheal Lichaa, and Danny Fualalo to name a few. Bring in the new wave of young talent like Enari Tuala, Blayke Brailey, George Fai, Keegan Hipgrave and Nat Butcher.

  3. This roster isn’t as bad as Pay and some of you make it out to be

    DWZ- Current NZ international
    Montoya – Fiji International
    Hoppa – Tonga international
    Foran NZ international
CHN – NZ international last year
    RFM NZ international last year
    Napa – QLD SOO
    Jackson – Previous NSW SOO

Remis smith is a gun but the ball doesn’t go to him.
Brandon Wakeham – FIJI GUN and Pay wont even try him (I think he;s a dev player though) .
    He keeps dropping Lewis
JMK shows no real vision or spark in 9 (well he’s gone for the season)

Thee is enough genuine talent in this squad not to be dead last.
Round 1 against NZ was alarm bells…

We had a winning formula towards the end of last year and a potent right hand side of attack with Holland Smith and Jackson and what does Pay do to destroy it put Jackson and Holland on the other side. Pay is out of his depth

And yes sack him its not about panicking it’s about decisions lack of game plan, excuses and favouritism that he needs to go.
If I hear one more press conference we are a young team and we need to get better and we need to extend our patches of playing well I’m gonna scream

The board need to stop covering their butt because they have an election in Feb 2020. I think this board has done some thing well and other things really poor. What they promised they definitely have not delivered. Seems like jobs for the boys at the moment.

I also heard Mark Hughes and Chris Anderson had a heated discussion on Friday – Lets see if anything comes out of that.

He keeps dropping Ogden who is our best forward by far on performance and wont give To’Omoga a run
Keeps picking and sticking with Elliot even when he should be dropped as he continues to have a shocker give away penalties and mistakes.
