Dragons coach Paul McGregor is set to receive a two-year contract extension, according to the Daily Telegraph.

McGregor's agent David Riolo reportedly finalised a new deal St George management during the week.

The 44-year old has done a tremendous job in recent times, steering the club to a narrow semi finals defeat to the Rabbitohs last season.

The Dragons have looked good again in 2019 despite the Jack de Belin off-field drama, currently sitting seventh on the ladder with three wins after five rounds.

It is understood that the club have been assessing the market for other potential candidates, however, ultimately decided that McGregor was their man.

He has now coached the club to 118 games and will look to take over Nathan Brown's club record of 151.

An announcement on McGregor's new deal is expected to made in the next week.
