A recent review into the Gold Coast Titans' football operations could lead to the sacking of Garth Brennan, reports Brent Read.

Read told Triple M that Mal Meninga's summary from the review could spell the end of Brennan's tenure at the Titans, with Kevin Walters the front-runner as his replacement.

“July 15 is D-Day for Garth Brennan,” Read said.

“As I understand it there is a board meeting that day where Mal Meninga will present his findings from the review he has done into the club’s football operations.

“I’m not sure he will be gone that day, but depending on the outcome of that review he could be gone reasonably soon after that. He will be lucky to see the year out.

“The review might not paint the best picture so that could be the final nail in the coffin for Garth Brennan.”

Walters' name has constantly been linked to the Titans job ever since he was overlooked as the successor for Wayne Bennett at the Broncos.

Read believes that there are several names that sit behind Walters if the Titans are set to offload Brennan in the mid-season.

“I don’t think it is a fait accompli that it is going to be Kevin Walters,” Read said.

“The standard short list for every club includes the two Roosters assistants Craig Fitzgibbon and Adam O’Brien.

“There is a lot of people telling me that Kevvie (Walters) is over the line, but I don’t know if that is the case.”
