Newcastle's Jesse Ramien has knocked back a three-year deal from the Canterbury Bulldogs, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald.

The Bulldogs were not the only team the 22-year old rejected, with North Queensland also getting knocked back.

Canterbury reportedly placed a Friday deadline on Ramien to make a decision so that they could prepare to shift their attention to pursuing Apisai Koroisau and Herman Ese’ese.

Three clubs remain in the mix to sign Ramien, however, they would need to offload players to make way for him.

This reportedly includes Cronulla, Parramatta and the Wests Tigers, while Melbourne could also be interested.

The Sharks are the frontrunner to acquire his services according to a report by Fox Sports after offering a four-year deal worth close to $2 million.

  1. I very much doubt that Melbourne would be interested.

1 He sounds a bit full of himself which does not fit the Bellamy mold at all.
2 He is hunting the money and Melbourne don’t pay top dollar
3 Melbourne aren’t exactly short of big centres

  2. Thought Cronulla we’re under the pump with the cap…. plus 500k a season for a sook?? Talent maybe, team player not really

  3. Gallen, Brailey, Flanagan & possibly Capewell or Prior will be leaving, freeing up the necessary cash to bring Ramien back.

  4. If the sharks get Ramien. What’s the backline look like? Xerri has to be at centre meaning what Dugan and Josh Morris on the wings?

  5. Plenty of options for sharks good young talent coming through and still old heads that they could let go if needed. Sharks don’t need Ramien but a right edge of Johnson, Nikora, Ramien and Morris/Mulitalo would be lethal.

  6. Yea possibly swa9, even though its well known Duges doesn’t like playing wing. But they might go
    1. Moylan
    2. Xerri
    3. Dugan
    4. Ramien
    5. Morris
    6. Johnson
    7. Townsend
Id prefer to keep Xerri in centres but hey don’t wanna upset Duges do they? Or do they?….. hmmm.
