The Canberra Raiders will look to sign another half, but do not have Warriors playmaker Shaun Johnson in their sights, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald.

But their capacity to sign a quality player may depend on if the NRL allow the Raiders to utilise the Josh Hodgson rule, which would allow them salary cap relief following Ata Hingano's shoulder reconstruction this week.

Recent reports have linked the Green Machine to Johnson, who is off contract at the end of the 2019 season.

It is unknown whether Johnson would be interested in playing for Canberra, but the club will ramp up its search for a half following Hingano's shoulder injury.

It leaves the Raiders with only two noteworthy playmakers on their squad - Aidan Sezer and Sam Williams.

"Obviously when you get asked are you interested in quality players you always say yes because we would be interested in a quality player, but it's way too early to speculate about," Raiders chief executive Don Furner said.

Furner also confirmed that the club will look to sign Kiwis winger Jordan Rapana after he returns from international duty in England, who is their main target.

The Raiders begun their pre-season on Thursday, while skipper Jarrod Croker has resumed running duties at training and is set to begin ball work in early December and full contact in January.
