Power Rankings: Round 7

1. Roosters (1)

The premiers continue to get it done, winning their sixth straight game on ANZAC Day. Siosiua Taukeiaho put in one of the performances of the season, yet was somehow overlooked for man of the match honours. Latrell Mitchell scored a brilliant try before shifting into the halves. A serious injury to Jake Friend was a setback on an otherwise positive evening. Hard to see where they can be beaten right now.

2. Storm (3)

The Storm continues to win despite failing to reach top gear. This time it was a one-point win over a brave Warriors side. Cam Smith was an absolute genius in leading the come from behind win. The home side was lucky to capture the win here but they were good enough to put themselves in the position. Bromwich was the only Storm forward to run for over 100 metres but Chambers (with 93) was the only member of the back six to not make 100 metres.

3. Rabbitohs (4)

The Bunnies made it hard for themselves on Friday night but ultimately put Penrith away. Cody Walker is playing himself into Origin contention in a big way. Kyle Turner is playing above himself in the centres and scored early. To win, away from home, with only 43% possession is impressive. The Bunnies ran for 400 metres less than their hosts yet kicked their way out of trouble. Solid win.

4. Raiders (2)

The Raiders suffered a setback following their loss to the Sea Eagles. Jack Wighton was a monster, scoring two tries and leading the way for the green machine. A Rapana injury led to a shift yet Bateman was still a star. Croker was a little worrying in defence after playing out of position. He set up a brilliant try, putting his name back into Origin contention. A late comeback fell short. Disappointing.

5. Sea Eagles (8)

Manly continued their amazing season with a four-point win over the high flying Raiders. Impressively the win came despite an injury to Cherry Evans who may miss Origin. Marty Taupau was gigantic, scoring a wrecking ball-like try and running for 156 metres. Manly's makeshift backline played well beyond expectation, a real mark of their 2019 season to date. No one, outside of the northern beaches, saw this coming.

6. Dragons (5)

The Dragons' winning streak came to an end after a 20-10 loss on ANZAC Day. They were in the fight until the 76th minute. Matt Dufty scored a magical try to reignite the contest. Paul Vaughan was again the Red V's best up front. He was better footwork away from putting the Dragons into the ascendancy. An injury to Ben Hunt is a big worry. They lost their way when he went off.

7. Eels (6)

What a difference a week can make. The Eels were delivered a serious reality check in the form of a 14-point loss to the Knights. Moses and Gutherson were well off their efforts of last week. Perhaps the contract situation of both players is having an effect after all. Reed Mahoney made 69 tackles but only ran for five metres. The attacking part of his game will develop. Mau aside the Eels were owned up front.

8. Titans (9)

The Titans looked set to record their third straight win for the first time in a long time after racing to a 14-0 lead. 30 points conceded later though and it was a horror trip to Tamworth. Peachey scored a brilliant early try on and looks to be delivering on his price tag. Unfortunately, the week will be remembered only four conceding six straight tries rather than the brilliant start.

9. Sharks (7)

The Sharks should be lower on this list if not for inconsistencies elsewhere. They were played off the park in Brisbane in strange circumstances. Dugan's withdrawal at literally the last minute made it tough for young debutant Mulitalo. An injury to Shaun Johnson adds to the club's horror toll. Fifita tried hard but no side can win with a 65% completion rate and 42% possession.

10. Tigers (11)

At 14-0 down it looked like a case of new week, same result. 30 unanswered points saw the Tigers turn it all around. They were almost untouchable in the second stanza. Mahe Fonua scored a hatty and had the celebration to match his effort. Luke Brooks laid on two try assists after his poor week against the Eels. Alex Twal has become their pack leader. When the Tigers outside backs get going they're hard to stop.

11. Cowboys (12)

The Cowboys had a brilliant opportunity to build on their win over the Warriors last weekend. Unfortunately, they were outplayed by the Bulldogs. They conceded seven line breaks to side running last while only making one. The Cowboys just don't have the star power right now. Their big names just aren't justifying their spots.

13. Warriors (10)

The Warriors, sans RTS and Blake Green, pushed the Storm all the way and were probably hard done by. The one-point loss showed tremendous heart. Adam Blair may have scored but continued his poor run, making one run all game. Ken Maumalo was huge topping the run metres and scoring. Patrick Herbert was great on debut.

14. Broncos (15)

The Broncos are back in the winner's circle after feasting on a battered Sharks outfit. Anthony Milford reminded everyone of what he can do in the big win. The Broncos made the most of their 58% possession with an 80% completion rate. They missed only 16 tackles and broke 50. Matt Lodge was big on his return. Corey Oates terrorised his debutant opponent.

15. Knights (16)

The Knights were unlucky not to move up further following their dominant 28-14 win over the Eels. Mitchell Pearce silenced his doubters by icing the game late. Pongas first try was a thing of beauty. David Klemmer had another huge game with over 200 metres. Hopefully, Jesse Ramien's injury isn't too bad after much-improved involvement out wide. Good win that should act as a launch pad for their season.

16. Panthers (13)

The Panthers fought late but were again outplayed. Viliame Kikau is an absolute monster in every sense of the word. The home side led every stat category yet couldn't convert into points. The lack of form by the halves is a real worry for club and state. Josh Mansour is not playing well. James Tamou is in close to career-best form. His 245 metres was almost 100 more than any other forward.
