Penrith Panthers superstar Nathan Cleary has escaped suspension and will be free to play in the club's next match in Week 3 of the NRL finals.
Cleary found himself in hot water during Week 1 of the finals after attempting to charge down a kick from Hugo Savala on the stroke of half-time, but collected his legs on the way through.
The two-time Clive Churchill Medallist was sent to the sin bin and placed on report for his actions, but it wasn't enough to thwart the Penrith juggernaut, who weathered the storm and triumphed with a 19-12 victory.
He has been charged with Grade 1 dangerous contact, with a fine issued for $1000.
If Cleary decides to contest the charge against him in front of the judiciary panel and loses, it will be elevated to $1500.
Penrith now march to yet another preliminary final, while the Roosters will face the Sharks at Allianz Stadium on Saturday for a place in a Grand Final qualifier against the Dolphins.
Fair enough. It was not malicious and stars have beed let off for far worse indiscretions.
