North Queensland Cowboys captain Reuben Cotter is the only player facing a charge out of Thursday night's 30-8 victory over the Gold Coast Titans.

Cotter was charged with a Grade 1 careless high tackle offence on Titans fullback Jayden Campbell during the Cowboys' important bounce-back win at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

The Cowboys skipper can accept an early guilty plea and receive a $1000 fine, or challenge the charge at the judiciary and risk an additional $500 penalty if found guilty.

The charge comes after Cotter played a key role in North Queensland's response following their record 82-12 loss to the Sydney Roosters the previous week, with the forward leading from the front as the Cowboys secured a much-needed victory.

Titans forward Cooper Bai avoided any penalty after being placed on report during the match for a dangerous tackle, escaping further action from the MRC.

The only sin bin of the match went against Cowboys winger Jaxon Purdue, who was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes after holding onto a tackle for too long on AJ Brimson following a line break and potential try-scoring opportunity.

Despite playing a man down, the Cowboys held firm to secure the win and take a step towards reviving their season.
