Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks is hoping the club can lure former halves partner Mitchell Moses back to the club, endorsing the idea.

Having locked up Dylan Brown to a new contract this off-season, Mitchell Moses's career as an Eels player looks in doubt. Splashing out big money for Brown has left the Eels with not enough cash to re-sign their halfback for the money he is asking for.

Eyeing a new deal, the Wests Tigers have put together a multimillion deal to persuade Moses to return to his former club. An offer that is in excess of $1 million a season, it will have him return with former halves partner Luke Brooks.

Brooks believes there is unfinished business for him and Moses to achieve, having never led the Tigers to the NRL finals. Brooks is keen to have him back in the orange and black endorsing the Tigers' plan to bring him back.

"It would obviously be great to get him back here and good to link up again. We have played a lot of footy together," Brooks said.

"I have had a few chats with him about it but I am not sure what his thoughts are."

"Hopefully he makes the decision soon. We have often spoken about the fact we played first grade together when we were really young."

"We sort of spoke before about how we would like to have a chance to play together again."

The two former teammates have had a storied career together originating from the Tigers S.G. Ball Cup days in 2012. Pairing with each other in the halves, they got the Tigers over the line in the Grand Final against the Canberra Raiders. Their great season was recognised with both players receiving Australian Schoolboys honours.

Before going on to play together in the first-grade team, Brooks and Moses were teammates for the Wests Tigers NYC team. During this time both players were awarded a spot in the New South Wales Blues Origin Pathways Camp.

In the four years together in first grade they showed glimpses of being the best halves pairing in the competition. However, unlike other clubs, they were never able to reach the finals. Unfortunately, their tenure together came to an end in 2017, with the Tigers not having enough money to re-sign Moses.

Brooks is also looking to ink up a new contract. Off-season at the end of the year, his future with the Tigers is in doubt. However, Brooks stated that a returning Moses would be a huge incentive to stay.

"If he were to come that would be a massive incentive for me to stay."

"I guess we didn't really know the ins and outs of first grade. Now we are older I think we could form a really good combo together if he was to come."

"I think you have that combo with certain people. That is what we had when we were younger — we knew each other's game, what each other liked and what worked."
