Knights co-captainĀ Jamie Buhrer has re-signed with the club on a one-year deal, tying him at Newcastle until at least the end of the 2019 season.

The 28-year old crossed from the Manly Sea Eagles to the Knights in 2017 and was pleased to extend his stay in the red and blue.

“I always wanted to stay at the Knights,” Buhrer toldĀ newcastleknights.com.au.

“Since I arrived at the club only a few year ago, I’ve immediately felt at home.

“My family and I absolutely love Newcastle and couldn’t imagine leaving.

“I’m confident the Club is headed in the right direction and excited to be part of what I believe will be a very successful future.”

Buhrer, a NSW representative for the 2012 State of Origin team, provides the Knights with great versatility, capable of playing a variety of positions, including backrow, lock, hooker and five-eighth.

  1. So much to like about how things are building at Newcastle.Building a good roster without going silly with the cap,i think Brown will be a one of the better coaches in not to distant future and with Wests on board things look on the up.

        • Whilst i do agree, some of the signings are going to be good for the club, it doesnt hide the juniors problem. From 16s-NRL coaching staff are all not locals because they had to pay them out, no local coach pathways, local copetition basically turned its back to the knights. 10 kids from local comp signed with rival NRL clubs, Knights got rid of half a dozen 20s players who have gone to other NRL clubs. So many juniors are leaving. NRL will go ok but the juniors are alarming because they have none. They keep buying buying buying. They had ISP players playing reserve grade in local comp. Some really good local players but no pathway. Its Great too buy players dont get me wrong but they need to also develop.
