Fresh off announcing the signatures of Aidan Guerra and Shaun Kenny-Dowall, the Knights rebuild is set to continue with two more signings expected to be announced soon.

The Courier Mail is reporting that the Knights have signed Tautau Moga and Broncos teammate Herman Ese’ese could be joining him in Newcastle next season.

Moga is only on a second-tier deal worth around $70,000 and while he does have an option in his favour for next season, the arrival of Jack Bird on big money means the Broncos don’t have much room in the salary cap to compete with the Knights.

The Broncos may have accepted losing Moga but are still fighting hard to retain Ese’ese.

Ese’ese had reportedly decided to leave Brisbane on Saturday morning, but the Broncos appealed for more time in the hopes to convince him to stay.

The Knights three-year, $1.4 million offer for the 22-year-old prop is significantly higher than that of the Broncos, it seems likely that both Moga and Ese’ese will continue to play together, just not in Brisbane.

  1. Losing Moga and Ese Ese would be a huge blow for the Broncos. They have been two of the Broncos’ best this season. Would have much rather seen the Broncs use the salary cap they spent recruiting Bird, to lock down Moga, Ese Ese and Ofahengaue.

  2. This doesn’t surprise me at all. A lot of knights players being shipped around, already losing Gagai and Mullen, along with a couple of others who really need to go..
This is my ideal team for next year

        Legit forgot about Ponga…ooops

    • Kaylyn Ponga

      Nathan Ross
      Brock Lamb

  3. If I Were Coach, Knights Team 2018:
    1. K. Ponga
    2. P. Matautia
    3. S. Dowall
    4. T. Moga
    5. N. Ross (Knights have to pay him up quickly before someone snatches him)
    6. B. Marshall (I Think Fit Team Perfectly)
    7. T. Hodkinson (I Think He’ll Play Better With A Better Half And Forward Pack)
    8. D. Safiti
    9. R. Kostjaysn
    10. J. Ofahengaue (Go For Broncos Triple)
    11. S. Matautia

    14. D. Levi
    15. M. Barnett
    16. H. Ese’ese
    17. J. Starling

  4. Ese’ese would be a loss for the Broncos
Moga who cares he is a ball hog makes bad read in defence
The Broncos have good young centers on the books They have Roberts Bird they won’t miss him
Ese’ese though would be a blow
I’m still not convinced he will leave forget the fact no club wanted him when the dogs told him
The Broncos gave him a chance and the rise of him under Bennett has been great
To go from a strong club that will play finals yr in yr out to a club that will be on the bottom of the ladder for a few yrs to come would be nuts I know the cash is big but he’d be nuts

  5. we (i go for tigers) had to get rid of 3 expensive players and more players to sign the people we did. Surely Newcastle are over the cap. Guerra, Ese’ese, Moga, Ponga, Kenny Dowall and have to resign 17 more players and the only player they have lost is Gagai!

    • Only player we have lost is gagai? Lol must of forgot about Mullen,Korbin sims, Tariq sims?..we are already about 3 million dollars below cap and it’s only going up so how you have concluded we must be over the cap is beyond me.
