South Sydney have confirmed the signings of outside back Cory Denniss and forward Liam Knight on two-year deals on Monday.

Knight makes the move from the Raiders with 10 first-grade appearances to his name, while Denniss has featured 18 times for the Newcastle Knights.

Rabbitohs General Manager of Football, Shane Richardson, spoke to the club’s website about the two inclusions, and believes both players will help add depth at Redfern.

“Liam is an old-school front rower,” Richardson told

“He is not one to take a backward step and will push strongly for a spot in our forward pack for the start of the season.

“Cory is a big-bodied back who has a similar build to Campbell Graham, another young gun in our backline.

“He has had a taste of first grade and knows what it will take to crack into our best seventeen.

“We look forward to Liam and Cory creating competition for spots by working hard and putting in his best efforts at every opportunity, as is The Rabbitoh Way.”

  1. So Jennings and Sutton are unsigned at this point due to salary cap issues yet these 2 are signed?? Am I missing something??

    • No, I’m pretty sure Sutton has now been signed for 2019 and still has thoughts of going one more year after that.

That will probably depend on whether Souths are a chance of getting TPJ for 2020 as well as on Sutton’s form in 2019.

      • TPJ will in no shape or form ever follow Bennett to Soufths. I think you meant to write Souffths will re-sign Sutton when it is official TPJ will never go to such a dump as Souffths. Sutton will extend Suttos career one more season with the use of their mighty over spending tactics with TPA’s.

After all mate, Soufffths are first out of all the Sydney clubs and most highest on the graph exposing which team rorts the system better with TPA’s πŸ˜πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

    • Don’t forget that Souths are running their own ISP team this year. I don’t know if you have to state whether you sign players for FG or ISP. Anyone know?

      • I just looked at the NSWRL page and it stated under the heading of ISP signings that Souths had signed these two.

        • ISP all you like, they are both NRL PLAYERS. The NRL has to register the contracts as a NRL players. between them they have played 28 games. Reg believes Crichton signed for a mil with the Chooks after playing 30 games. So how much are these two worthβ“β”β“β”β“β”πŸ˜πŸ˜†πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ’ͺπŸ‘΄πŸ‘πŸŽ±πŸŽ±πŸŽ±πŸŽ±πŸŽ±πŸŽ±

  2. I get that eels47. I’m assuming Jennings and Sutton are both no goes?? Or are they hoping AJ goes then both stay..

      • Well it’s being reported by the telegraph that Souths and Jennings have agreed to an extension for 2019 but cannot register the contract due to salary cap issues.

        • Sutton re-signed for 2019 a few weeks ago.
I actually hope you’re right RedV13 about Jennings remaining at the Bunnies and/or Parra don’t chase him, because I really don’t want us to sign him. I rate him etc, but the last thing we need is another winger, especially if we’re paying up for one.
And if Jennings is staying, obviously they need to shed a player/s, so I’d assume that would be Johnston.

  3. I am rejoicing with exhilarated contentment that Jennings will emigrate to a rival NRL team. Jennings was a weak link with his vulnerability and inadequacy in defence which was prominent against the Roosters for all to see in this years Preliminary Final. If Jennings was such a wonderful savvy talent, why then did our arch rivals the Roosters never pursue his services?

The announcement today by South Sydney, in signing two more imports, that of the troubled forward Knight, who was terminated by Manly and Easts and an inexperienced, unequipped outside back from Newcastle, has all but confirmed Jennings departure.

The two hundred and fifty thousand mentioned in the above article has been utilised for these two inept players with our ever growing list of alternative imports in place of a winger who was immensely overrated.

    • Once again , woodchook raises his ugly head when his alter ego Russ comes out, just say what you want as a Easts supporter and drop the pretence,.

      • Jennings will be moved on and like Russell reckons mate πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ€£ your Souffths outfit once again has gone on the lets buy another couple of young players from other NRL clubsπŸ€£πŸ˜πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺπŸ‘΄πŸ‘

    • agree penso…..reading Russ Crowers comments over and over its blatantly obvious he isn’t a souths supporter …….obviously a roosters supporter in disguise…….why dont you come out of the closet Russ Crower

      • I am overwhelmingly thrilled with exhilaration that you, Rabbit Crazy, are crazy about my Rabbit posts. Regardless of Penso and your opinions of my indisputable and unassailable passion towards my beloved South Sydney Rabbits.

I call it as I see it. Jennings is not a wonderful savvy talent, Nevertheless our once proud production line of local juniors, all be it part of Easts old territory, are dwindling into subside decay. The evidence is before us, when we must purchase two rookie unproven players to replenish our depth.

      • Rabbit crazyπŸ₯œπŸ₯œπŸ₯œπŸ₯œπŸ₯œπŸ₯œπŸ₯œπŸ₯œ, I think Russell is a down to Earth realist. He makes a lot of sense for a Souffths drongo and with reason. Why did they sign those two players after telling Jennings they would like to keep him but our cap is tight. Like that red haired woman polition says up in Queensland. Please Explain❓❓❓❔❔❔❓❓❓❔❓❔❓❔❓

  4. Knight….could be a good signing for souths (im hoping so)….we were looking a little thin in back up forwards for 2019
    After losing/shedding
    Crighton……..Rep plaer

and only signing Bayley Sironen & Kurt Dillon…….i honestly thought we were light on for bench forwards.
Hopefully Knight can fill that void and live up to his supposed reputation of being an old style prop who doesn’t take a backward step………if so i believe there is a great opportunity for him to secure a spot in the forward rotation off the bench
As for Cory Dennis not so sure yeahhh big bodied outside back…..not sure about his pace though and think we have more options in the back up “backs” …..guys like Hiroti & Burns (if Burns can stay injury free) so Dennis will have to work hard against these guys to prove his worth

I like the possible starting 17

    Props TOM & GEORGE
    Hooker COOKY
    2nd Row SAM & SUTTO
    Lock MURRAY
    Half REYNO
    5/8 WALKER
    Centres GAGAI & INGLIS
    Fullback ALLAN

    Bench Nicholls, Tatola, Knight, Doueihi
