Brisbane has announced the re-signing of winger Corey Oates, with the 25-year-old putting pen to paper on a deal that could see him remain at the club until the end of the 2022 season.

The contract is for season 2020, although there are options for both 2021 and 2022 in the contract.

“It’s good to have things sorted. The Broncos have been great for the last 8 years or so and it’s always hard to leave somewhere – the last thing I want to do is pack up and have to start again,” Oates told the club's website.

“I started last season really strong and it would be good to have that form the whole year – that’s on myself, I can fix that.

“You have to manage it all and have a strong preseason, and my focus will be on getting all the little things right.”

Oates has scored 91 tries in 142 NRL games for the club.

  1. Should call himself Cameron Smith, Oats loves to get his name in the newspapers every off season now, will he or won’t he resign? Same old stuff.

  2. BenH – So because this article can’t be swayed towards you going on about the Chooks and Souths he’s trying to get his name in the papers! The same old stuff is every article turning into a Roosters vs Souths “We’re better than you”

He would have signed ages ago if the Bronco’s just put a reasonable deal in front of him.
