Bulldogs winger Josh Morris has escaped an ACL injury, but will still miss up to two months after tearing one of the lateral ligaments in his knee during the Dogs' loss to Cronulla last Sunday.

Morris played just 40 minutes after suffering the injury in the first half, and will now need to spend eight weeks on the sidelines to recover from injury.

"He was taken off with a knee injury and unfortunately tore one of the lateral ligaments in his knee," Bulldogs Head Physio James Rahme told bulldogs.com.au.

"The good news is he's not having surgery, unfortunately the bad news is he's going to miss probably eight weeks, just through the rehab and conservative treatment."

Morris had played all 11 games for Canterbury so far this season, scoring six tries.
