Eels star Jarryd Hayne is set to meet with the St George Illawarra Dragons, according to a report by NRL.com.

Hayne was not present at the Eels' first pre-season training session last week, and has reportedly been in contact with the Dragons due to contract discussions with Parramatta not progressing.

Dragons director of rugby league Ian Millward and coach Paul McGregor recently returned from holiday and will open discussions with Hayne.

It is understood that Hayne is unhappy with what the Eels are offering him, with the 30-year old exploring his options overseas.

It has given the Dragons an opportunity to pounce, who are looking to strengthen their backline following the departures of Jason Nightingale and Nene MacDonald and uncertainty surrounding Matt Dufty.
