Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen has been ruled out of tomorrow’s Preliminary final after failing to overcome a shoulder injury

Gallen was injured in the second half of the Sharks win over the Panthers last weekend but has been working around the clock in a bid take his place in the side.

The club was intending to give Galle up until game time tomorrow before making a decision but upon arrival in Melbourne and following a further assessment by the club’s medical staff, the early call was made to rule him out of match.

The club will name a replacement for him later tonight when they trim the squad down to a 19-man team list.

The final 17 to take the field against the Storm will be announced one-hour before kickoff.

Veteran forward Luke Lewis is expected to captain the Sharks in Gallen’s absence.

  1. The Woodchook reckons a game should be played each year on grand final day for third place outright between the two preliminary final losers. If that happened this years game would be Souths vs Melbourne/Cronulla loser. Then the main game would be Sydney Roosters vs Cronulla/Melbourne winner. Prize money should be Minor Premiers 500k, Premiers 1mil, runner up 400k, Third 300k fourth 200k💪😎👍🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱

    • No one wants a play off for third place. No club would want to do that . What a waste of time . It’s not the Olympics & playing for the Bronze.
As for the 0.5 to 1.5 million for being minor premiers & Premiers? We all know certain clubs way overspend each year calling it ‘Third Party Deals ‘. Those clubs are more often than not the Minor Premiers at least . So why should they be rewarded even more for being over spenders ?
I say limit the Third Party Deals , to 1 million Max. For any club. Change it so the deals can be done by the player , or the club for the players . Same for all clubs.
Then talk about increasing the payments for being minor premiers or Premiers. When everyone is on a level playing field.

      • All of the above and still out pointed the April premiers and perineal chokers in the big red V. When are you clowns ever going to give up. The merged venture are a laughing stock.

        • Your 5/8th Moylan was back to his tackling worst again last night. Never really wants to tackle. Puts in some token efforts , but lets his team mates do most of the work.
Only tries harder in defence against Penrith. Funny, that lack of effort was how his defence was when he was at Penrith.
Beaten on the outside again, the same as against the Roosters. Way to Slow ! Sucked in for buying him Sharkies..

        • Couldn’t have said it better myself EOD. With all the local talent the panthers have I’m guessing they’re stoked to have a waste of cap space like that Prima Donna Moylan off the books. I’m wondering when they’re going to tell the tattooed sook Dugan he’s free to look elsewhere. Back to the peptides boys, only way you’re gonna win anything.
