Gallen ruled out of Preliminary Final

Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen has been ruled out of tomorrow's Preliminary final after failing to overcome a shoulder injury

Gallen was injured in the second half of the Sharks win over the Panthers last weekend but has been working around the clock in a bid take his place in the side.

The club was intending to give Galle up until game time tomorrow before making a decision but upon arrival in Melbourne and following a further assessment by the club's medical staff, the early call was made to rule him out of match.

The club will name a replacement for him later tonight when they trim the squad down to a 19-man team list.

The final 17 to take the field against the Storm will be announced one-hour before kickoff.

Veteran forward Luke Lewis is expected to captain the Sharks in Gallen's absence.
