The St George Illawarra Dragons have confirmed the retention of young forward Jacob Webster, with the home grown talent to remain at the club through to the end of the 2028 season.
The extension, first revealed by Zero Tackle at the end of last month, ensures Webster will continue his development at the Red V after an impressive rise through the Dragons' system.
Webster was originally off contract at the end of 2026 but will now officially join the club's Top 30 squad under the new deal.
The 23-year-old made his NRL debut in Round 23 this season, featuring in the Dragons' upset victory over the Cronulla Sharks.
His retention is another significant piece of business for the Dragons as they continue to lock away a number of young players developed through their own system.
Ryan and Toby Couchman, Hamish Stewart, Dylan Egan, Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga and Jacob Halangahu are all juniors to have extended in the past 12 months, with Webster now the latest Dragons Academy product to secure his future at the club.
Webster shared he was excited to continue his career in the Red V.
“I'm really excited to be extending my time here with the Dragons,” Webster said.
“This club gave me an opportunity when I was a teenager, and I'm still grateful for it. Making my NRL debut this year was a dream come true, and I'm looking forward to the next couple of years.”
Dragons coach Dean Young has also backed Webster to continue progressing after making the jump into first grade, comparing the young forward to former club great Luke Bailey.
“Webby reminds me of Luke Bailey,” Young said.
“He is tough and uncompromising, consistently doing the little things that earn the respect and trust of his teammates and coaches. He handled the leap up to the NRL this year well, and we're excited that he will remain a Dragon.”
