The reason behind Sam Burgess pulling the hair of Roosters rookie Billy Smith last week has been revealed.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Burgess was venting his frustration following his involvement in a social media scandal from May last year.

A woman complained to the NRL and Rabbitohs about a crude photo sent to her via Facebook chat, who was later revealed to be a close friend of Smith's.

After getting interviewed by integrity unit investigators, Smith was cleared of having any involvement in the matter.

However, that didn't stop Burgess from having a bone to pick with the young Roosters star.

And it cost the Rabbitohs skipper a start in his side's semi final loss to the Roosters on Friday night.

South Sydney went down 30-6 in a game where they vastly missed Burgess' leadership.

It sets up a do-or-die final against the Manly Sea Eagles next Friday night.

  1. Last year it was the rooster Facebook connection getting to us.
This year it’s the MRC which is looking roosters bias as well.
    There good.
As they say at the roosters WHATEVER IT TAKES.

  2. So Sam stuck is nose into another players business? He is no clean skin, and he was caught doing a similar thing.

  3. The roosters slurry continues with the MRC.
They wonder why they struggle with their depleted membership?
    No integrity obviously.

  4. Eye gouging charges for Hargreaves being looked at after pics of the incident have emerged all over social media and ZT as well.
    What excuse for this one?

  5. i don’t think that is an eye gouge, just a palm which has connected with the face. I can’t see any indication of pressure on the eyes
