Broncos to rest Origin stars, Milford to return

The Brisbane Broncos will rest two of their Origin stars for the match against the Newcastle Knights but in some good news, Anthony Milford will make his return from injury.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has decided to rest Queensland stars Matt Gillett and Josh McGuire following Wednesday night’s Origin clash.

Alex Glenn will likely replace Gillet in the second row, with Jai Arrow to get his first start of the year at lock in place of McGuire.

To temper the loss of Gillett and McGuire, Milford will play his first match since dislocating his shoulder last month against the Roosters.

Milford is set to start alongside Ben Hunt at halfback, with Benji Marshall to move to the bench.

Bennett will cut his squad this afternoon, before naming his final 17 to play Newcastle one hour before kick off tomorrow.

  1. Great to hear Milf is back and Isaako is to debut. Isaako is an awesome goal kicker, quicker than Kahu and has a safe pair of hands. While it won’t happen, I’d love to see the following Broncos team versus the Knights:

    Milford
    Isaako
    Moses Pengai
    Moga
    Seve
    Nikorima
    Marshall
    Ofahengaue
    McCullough
    Pengai Jnr
    Funaki
    Sims
    Blair
    Glenn
    Love-Henry
    Thaiday
    Lavea
