Newcastle has announced the signature of hooker Jayden Brailey on a three-year deal, commencing in 2020.

The 23-year-old has played 60 first-grade games to his name, and has been released from the final deal of his contract to join the Knights.

“We are pleased to confirm the signing of Jayden Brailey,” Knights CEO Philip Gardner told the club's website.

“Not only is he a very promising player who features prominently in our long-term plans but he is joining the Knights because he wants to be part of our future success."

Elite Pathways recruitment manager Alex McKinnon said Brailey would become an emerging leading in the Knights' squad.

“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Jayden on a personal level and have always found him to be a wonderful young man.

“I see Jayden as an emerging leader, not only at the Knights but in the wider game. He is a person with incredible character and it’s very important to have those kind of quality people within your organisation.

“We’re excited to see his game develop alongside some very experienced players and believe his best football is yet to be realised.”

  1. Frankfurter you make a fair point with the roosters signing 35 yo Hall 36 yo Morris.
Flanagan being the son of a disgraced drug cheat will be a good fit at the roosters.

  2. Roosters obviously missed the boat on Brailey.
Wouldn’t get a start at Souths with the best in the game Cook there but dumping the washed up Friend for Brailey would have been a big plus

  3. Frankie, unlike the Chooks, Souths have to sign players for their Canterbury Cup team which means a lot of players like Goodwin gets a start. Norths have their own players plus a few Chook’s leftovers, Souths have to field a whole team. As a person who knows all about Rugby League I thought you might know this, but…….

Anyway, seeing that this article is about Jayden Brailey, I wish him all the best for his rugby league future.

  4. He never really escaped from the shadow of his predecessor Michael Ennis.

I guess Kurt Mann remains the perennial Utility player.

  5. All of you are wrong!
He stated he wants to come back to the Sharks before he left. Why do you think we allowed Jayden Brailey go to Newcastle and young Flanno to the Roosters in the last couple of weeks? It was to make room for Jessie plus the bulldogs want Dugan so we have the centre spot going as well.
