Aaron Woods set to follow Mitchell Moses out the door

Aaron Woods is set to leave Wests Tigers at the end of the season to link up with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

7 News is reporting that Woods has committed to join the Bulldogs next season in a major blow to new Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary, who has been hell bent on convincing the Wests Tigers captain to re-sign with the club.

With Mitchell Moses joining the Parramatta Eels in 2018 and fullback James Tedesco being pursued by both the Bulldogs and Sydney Roosters, the Wests Tigers could be left with only one of the “Big Four” after it was announced yesterday that Brooks had officially signed a two-year extension.

  1. I don’t think Woods will be too big of a loss, sign an old head and bring in a couple of youngsters and they will be fine. However, if Tedesco leaves (more than likely according to the media) the Tigers backline looks terrible. No Moses, no Tedesco, but hey, they re-signed Luke Brooks who is probably the most over rated half in the game.

  2. DON’T GET THIS FLOG WHATEVER YOU DO. APPARENTLY RELEASING JAMES GRAHAM TO GET WOODS, ARE YOU PEOPLE BLOODY KIDDING ME? DISGRACEFUL BY THE DOGS MANAGEMENT IF SO

    • Does that mean that Graham will come to Souths to join his mate Sam and the Rabbitohs will become a “salty” version of Little Britain! Computer says Noooooooooo!!

  3. Na don’t worry Bulldog 4 ever
He’s not going anywhere there keeping him and buying woods as starting front row with tolman and klemmer off the bench, That’s info directly from a staff member.

  4. The tigers should go all out for Graham if they lose Woods. He would be great at mentoring to younger forwards at the Tigers. I can’t imagine that the Dogs would be keeping all of Woods, Graham, Tolman and Kasiano as front rowers along with Klemmer at lock. Far too much salary cap tied up in props.

    • The story doing the rounds is that Kasiano and Eastwood will be the ones to go, I understand that these two take up a big chunk of the cap and are not producing the quality that their pay checks call for, so they will be first out the door.
It makes sense to me – keep Graham, Tolman, Klemmer and Jackson and lose two who are fairly up and down in form.

      • The problem I would have with this if I was a Bulldogs supporter is that they now have 3 props who essentially do the same job in Graham, Tolman and Woods. That makes no sense to me whatsoever. None of them provide much punch or impact, they are metre eaters. If they were going to go after a prop they should have been looking for more impact, someone like Kane Evans as the Eels have. I thought they were crazy to let Graham go and sign Woods, but to keep Graham and sign woods seems even stranger to me.

        • hey thats des for you…it doesn’t always make sense to normal people, like when he took t-rex to bulldogs.
anyway, isn’t graham a halfback who plays in the middle?

      • Kasiano is often guilty of pushing offloads that aren’t on but he can also win you a game and his impact of the bench never goes unnoticed.

      • whilst it makes sense to me – doesn’t mean I agree with Dessie.
His problem is not so much with his forwards, it his halves and backs, even though some of his forwards want to be halves.

  5. No offence to Bulldogs supporters but congratulations on signing one of the most overrated props in the game.
Seriously if you lose Graham because you have signed Woods then someone in the doggies camp needs to be fired.

    • I’m a dogs fan Kev and no offence taken. I’m not a Woods fan. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Compared to Graham Woods runs like a teddy bear. Graham, whilst a bit of a madman, offers so much more in attack and can play longer minutes.

  6. aaron woods will be a terrific buy for the dogs he he gp up a notch ,ageing james graham is 32 going on 33 as woods is 26 very smart from the dogs in getting him the only piece of the puzzle is foran his misses mrs pope
wants him in a sydney based team NOT NEWCASTEL not MELBOURNE she wants him 2 be guided by desmond

  7. Manly vs Knights for Graham! Hopefully we get him but I wouldn’t mind if Knights pick him up they need some good veterans.

  8. Woods big bloke small heart not worth it, Graham on the other hand has a massive heart. I know who i would want next to me in the line.

  9. A few weeks back the media/punter discussion around the Dogs was all about “Will Dessie be pushed out of Belmore?”. It now seems that this talk was all coming from the wrong angle. The Dessie vs Board discussion in private was all about who can we sign and who can we let go to make Dessie’s job safer.
Will Graham and Reynolds be pushed for Woods and Foran? Will Tedesco come with Woods? Will Mybe (once touted, like Jack Bird, to be a future superstar) be offloaded?
What happens from here will be good to watch.
