Melbourne Storm forward Tim Glasby has received the call-up from Queensland Maroons coach Kevin Walters to play the 18th man role at the State of Origin Game One series opener at the MCG on Wednesday night.

Glasby played for the Maroons in his State of Origin debut last year and was featured in two of the three matches in the series to help take home the winning honours as Queensland prevailed.

Despite a hand injury that held him back earlier this season, Glasby has come back and been a huge factor in the Storm's success this season and his solid form seems to have put him over the top and locked him a spot with the Maroons.

The 29-year-old will be joining the Maroons camp before flying with the team to Melbourne on Monday prior to the series opener.
