With the 2022 NRL finals series underway, we are set for four phenomenal matchups between this year's premiership contenders.
These eight clubs share some serious finals history, so much so that this year's qualifying and elimination finals feel like a miniature rivalry round.
4. Sydney Roosters (6th) vs South Sydney Rabbitohs (7th)
It's no secret that these clubs share the longest and most bitter rivalry in rugby league. Sunday's clash will be the 229th between the two since 1908, and will mark the 13th finals encounter between them.
For the sake of brevity we'll review the most recent finals meetings between the two.
2014 Preliminary Final - Before claiming an iconic premiership victory the following week against Canterbury, the Rabbitohs had to overcome their oldest foes at ANZ stadium before over 52,000 fans.
And that they did winning 32-22 over the Roosters thanks in part to a Greg Inglis double and a perfect 6 from 6 kicking record from halfback Adam Reynolds.
2018 Preliminary Final - This game marked the last match played at the old Sydney Football Stadium and was a tight affair that saw the Roosters pull through to the Grand Final against Melbourne, winning 12-4.
This may be remembered as the game where Cooper Cronk sustained a fractured scapula which he bravely played through in the 2018 Grand Final.
2019 Qualifying Final - The last time the old rivals met in the finals, and the Roosters opened the series by blitzing Souths 30-6 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. A lone try and conversion to Adam Reynolds the sole consolation for Wayne Bennett's bunnies.
