Smith will retain the captaincy for with Bromwich and Finucane set to take on extra off-field duties. It is the first time Melbourne have named co-captains since 2007.

Will Chambers and Kenny Bromwich round out of the revamped five-man leadership group following the departure of Billy Slater, Ryan Hoffman and Tim Glasby.

  1. Slim pickings for future captains after Bromwich was suspended after his cocaine bender last year.
I’d be hoping for Munster to step up to take complete control of the team after Smith. As a Captain there is going to be big boots to fill after he retitres at 40.

  2. A crack sniffer or a grub who gets sent of twice during a grand final (including for a dog shot where he kicked Manu in the head out of frustration). All from QLD or NZ so no locals either!

Great culture they’ve built down there ay. You’d think their systematic cap rorting woulda built a legacy.
