Sydney enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves could be watching his side's first finals clash from the sidelines following a dangerous tackle on Rabbitoh Liam Knight.

Knight was left covered in blood following the collision as the Souths front-rower tried to break from an initial tackle against Roosters' Lindsay Collins.

Knight hit the turf shortly after the clash and was seen bleeding from his temple before being treated off the field.

Collins was also assessed for a HIA.

โ€œI donโ€™t know what Jaz couldโ€™ve done,โ€ coach Trent Robinson said.

โ€œHe couldnโ€™t take his arm off. It wasnโ€™t clenched.

โ€œThey are penalties. You canโ€™t hit the head, so I understand that, but I donโ€™t know what else he couldโ€™ve done.โ€

The concerns around Waerea-Hargreaves' potential suspension add onto the Roosters' struggles heading into finals, after being kept scoreless in the second half in their defeat to the Rabbitohs.

Waerea-Hargreaves' report on Thursday night isn't his first caution for the season, with the Kiwi international copping a ban for his altercation with Newcastle's Kalyn Ponga on the eve of Origin.

The Late Show's Matty Johns described the hit as "sickening" during the show's post-match recap.

โ€œThe head clash has accentuated it,โ€ said Bryan Fletcher.

โ€œBut he has got carry over points, I donโ€™t think he meant to do it, he was falling into the tackle.โ€

Fellow presenter Gorden Tallis added: โ€œHe hit him in the head, his target couldโ€™ve gone lower.

โ€œI know heโ€™s falling but it's your responsibility to not strike another player in the head.

โ€œItโ€™s careless and I think you know the Roosters will have a case to answer for because heโ€™s fallen, but still he got him in the head and Knight had to leave the field.โ€

  1. Robinson couldn’t look straight at the camera when attempting defend the game’s official biggest grub.
The more he fumbled his words, the more stupid he came across. Class act.

  2. chookstir – just because somebody doesn’t agree with you they are an automatic ”simpleton” is that correct? If you believe that I think that you should have a long hard look at yourself.

  3. I find it amusing these clowns that come up with these hair brain rule changes.
A/ don’t identify with the club they follow, which would explain a lot of things.
B/ don’t read what they post… “If a player fails a HIA as the result of an illegal tackle the offender should be sent off. One for one, simple game” …. there were 12 penalties last night, around 5-6 HIAs …going by your theory, they’d no-one on the field by the end of the game… so Chalky, you agree with your mate?
So tell me which team you follow?…. also which team you dislike and I’ll assess both answers
    If your game…

  4. chookstirfried speaking of teeth take a good look at the game replay.
You will notice thousands of smiling Souths fans with full sets of glowing white teeth.
Then, when the cameras focus on the roosters fan section take note of the many 30 year old women sitting with their daughters and grandchildren.
