The Roosters have downplayed interest in off-contract star Tevita Pangai.

Sydney coach Trent Robinson brushed aside the prospect of landing the rising forward when asked by the Sydney Morning Herald.

"It's not worth discussing," he said.

"Otherwise you'd ask me about (someone) every week. The Roosters get linked every week to somebody who is coming on to the market."

Robinson refused to elaborate on whether there had been any progression with talks.

"If you go into that, you just open up a can of worms," said the two-time premiership-winning mentor.

"So that stuff comes out when you've either signed them or you haven't, whether you've talked to them or not, and there's so many different players you can discuss.

"But our squad's our squad and you can really see the squad that we've got at the moment and what we're building towards."

For now, Robinson is focused on seeing more effort from his side, who currently sit seventh on the ladder at 2-1.

"I want – and we will get – a better D performance from us so we will be very physical," he said.

"They've obviously got the way they like to attack and we know how we want to defend and we want improvement on what we've been putting out there and that starts with tomorrow night.

"So individually you've got to bring your game and I expect that from the guys, and also collectively.

"You put that together and we want to go after them."

The Roosters face off with the Broncos on Thursday night at the SCG.

  1. Like I said before the Sydney Roosters have got some of the best props in the game with a new crop coming through that will be better than our last production line exports of Napa and Kane Evens who came through our Development program.

Lindsay Collins and Poasa Faamausili will be better than those two and we have already three champions in JWH, Taukeiaho and Tetevano.

Pangai Jr is inconsistent and the type of player if you mark him heavily he will not produce anything special. The media have built this bloke up for a massive fall.💪🐔👍

  2. While I think TPJ is a good player he is way to inconsistent to be worth 1 million.
500k per season max is about where he is at. I would welcome him at Parra but not for 1 million per season.

  3. As we ALL KNOW, there’s ONLY one team that can buy whoever they want without ever risking salary cap pressure, hell, I’m sure they’ll be able to get TPJ, keep Cronky around for another season or two (if he wanted to) and even upgrade Keary.. no problem whatsoever….

  4. Ok are you mobile phoneix ❓❔❓❔❓ because I just rang up ZT and reported your post for you. You did ask if your post “can be reported for stupidity”. 🤣😂😁😆🤣
